Comparing and Contrasting the Concepts Used in Golf Course Designs
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 4 page paper comparing and contrasting the concepts used in golf course designs. Examples include Pebble Beach and Augusta National. The designs of golf courses have changed a great deal over the last century and a half. Original golf course designs incorporated a great deal of the natural elements present in the landscape because there were very few options available in regards to moving earth. These courses proved to be very challenging and many withstood the test of time with relatively few changes over the years, such as Pebble Beach. During the 1920s and 1930s, the “Golden Age” of golf course design occurred and such classics as Augusta National were built to accommodate the ever increasing popularity of the game. While still maintaining a natural landscape especially in regards to its fruitland past, Augusta in contrast to other courses, has undergone a great many design changes over the course of time. Most changes were in response to the increasing number of spectators which attend the Masters’ tournament held there each year while other changes were meant to keep the course challenging. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Construction Trends in Professional Baseball Stadiums -- Everything Old is New Again
[ send me this paper ]
This 8 page report discusses the current trends in the construction of professional baseball stadiums. The technology and construction is top of the line high-tech while the theme and the style is a return to classicism. Stadiums such as Camden Yard in Baltimore and Comerica Park in Detroit (with its merry-go-round and Ferris wheel) attempt to make every effort to recreate the kinder, gentler days of baseball in the age of Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig. The new stadiums also want to seat more people, attract more fans, increase advertising and sponsorship revenue, and serve more food and drink that include such traditional baseball fare as cappuccino and microbrew ale. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

Corporate Golf Tournament Sponsorship
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page paper discussing corporate sponsorship of golf tournaments. In asking whether golf benefits the corporation or the consumer more, the answer is definitively for the corporation. Those proposing that golf is for everyone obviously have the budgets that will allow them to play the game, because its expense prohibits many from taking part. Its expense is one of the attractions of the millions of corporate dollars spent in sponsorship each year, however: the average income of the committed golfer is more than $60,000, making the community of amateur golfers a marketer's dream come true. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
