“Waiting for Godot”: A Comparison of the Book by Samuel Beckett, Laurel and Hardy, and Vaudeville Comedy
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page discussion of the underlying detail of these two theatrical productions as compared to the larger theatrical genre of slapstick vaudevillian comedy. Vladimir is Hardy’s equivalent while Estragon is Laurel’s. Regardless of how annoying one character may be perceived by his alter ego, they have an unbreakable relationship which is more positive than it is negative.
